The summer months of 2010 are being marked by the “5 a day” brand. Thousands of children all over the country are learning healthy eating habits at the same time as enjoying themselves in the “5 a day” workshops.

Duet Sports, the company that designs and manages public sports centres all over Spain, decided to renew its collaboration agreement with the “5 a day” association which it originally signed last year. A large number of activities have been planned for this occasion to promote healthy eating habits among members of the public attending its centres, from information points on healthy eating to children’s activity workshops.
The initiative kicked off with the organisation of three healthy workshops in the Centro Duet Francisco Fernández Ochoa, located in Madrid's Carabanchel district. During the afternoons of 16, 17 and 18 July a nutritionist and part of the “5 a day” team travelled to the centre where they ran workshops on making fruit kebabs, which were then enjoyed by more than 150 children aged between 6 and 12.
The activities are continuing in the other Centro Duet centres owned by the sports company in Spain throughout the month of July, especially in the province of Barcelona.
Apart from this activity, “5 a day” are carrying out other projects, such as the fruit salad workshops held in a Special Education centre in Segovia, organised by the Fundación Caja Rural de Segovia and the “Come fruta y ganarás” (eat fruit and you will win) campaign, which further to its success amongst students of the Fundación Real Madrid, is taking place over the summer period at the Fundación Real Valladolid Summer Schools. In addition to these projects are the regular collaborations between our partner Supsa in the Plus Fresc Supermarkets and the message spreading carried out in conjunction with Eurotoques with the “European Day of healthy food and cooking with children” held in Madrid.
In all, a summer packed with healthy messages which will encourage thousands of children to return to school in September feeling invigorated and having learnt the importance of healthy living.
