The Organisers’ Committee of FRUIT ATTRACTION reports excellent prospects in terms of visitor numbers at the ninth edition, from 18 to 20 October

A few weeks ago, there was a meeting of the FRUIT ATTRACTION Organisers’ and Advisory Committees in Madrid. During the meeting, the committee members talked about the new features planned for the ninth edition, parallel activities and the progress made with the project. They looked at the excellent influx of applications from participants. Six months before the event, which will take place from 18 to 29 October, the same number of visitors as participated in the last edition of FRUIT ATTRACTION 2016 has already registered to take part.

The organisers of FRUIT ATTRACTION, IFEMA and FEPEX, are to see an increase in visitor numbers of 20% compared to the previous edition, with 1,500 participating companies, who will occupy Halls 5, 6, 7,8, 9 and 10.

The Committee discussed the new features introduced this year, among which are three new exhibition areas: one specialised in nuts, The Nuts Hub, the Smart Agro area, specialising in technology, innovation, and knowledge, which will feature tools that will lead to more efficient production, and the Seed Planet area, for presenting new seeds and plant varieties.  Echoing earlier editions, the Trade Fair is boosting the ORGANIC HUB area for organic fruit and vegetables, which are increasingly in demand in the international market.

This year, FRUIT ATTRACTION has created the LANZADERA programme, a new "ready2exhibit" exhibition space, with six-square-metre exhibition areas at a very competitive price to draw attention to new sector companies set up in the last two years. The idea is to encourage entrepreneurship, new fruit and vegetable companies and young entrepreneurs. This section will also include a 12,000-euro prize for the best project at the exhibition.
During the meeting, they analysed the initial programme of parallel activities, among which is the 6th International Postharvest Unilimited Conference.  For the first time this year, the event will feature the Fresh "n Star space, which will contain the entire directory of participating companies, seminars and an exhibition of this year"s top two products: lettuces and pomegranates. Technical seminars will also be organised about these two products.

Regarding the International Hosted Buyer Programme, one of the most popular sales tools provided for exhibitors, this year a total of 800 trade professionals from buying and distribution chains from more than 50 countries will be invited, all with high decision-making powers in their companies, and capacity to negotiate at the Trade Fair. The Invited Importer Country initiative has also been set up this year. This year, the featured countries are Brazil and China, who will be there with the intention of developing institutional, market and sales activities during FRUIT ATTRACTION, encouraging growth and development of business relationships with these two countries.

The Organisers" Committee is mainly made up of representatives of the member associations of FEPEX, of IFEMA, of the associations of distribution, wholesalers and wholesale markets. The meetings of the Organisers’ Committee coincide with those of the Advisory Committee, and are attended by the promotional representatives of the autonomous regions involved in the development of the trade fair.
